Just watched The Pirates. The melodeon-playing pirate was wearing a bandana. Sort of reminds me of somebody, but I can't think who.....  ::)

Not quite a film, but in last night's Kinks extravaganza on BBC 4 there was a black dot box on a shelf in the background of a Ray Davies interview...

Hope it was a Double Ray...(geddit...?)

Kinks extravaganza... On television? Last night in the States it was reruns or politics. Fancy a trade?  ;)

I was watching MASH at silly o'clock the other morning and Clinger waltzed in dressed as a gypsy playing a vintage looking one row melodeon

My little pony friendship is magic (the new series) - Pinky  Pie plays the two row  :o

:-\ I was going to say how do you play a melodeon with hooves, but on the other hand, some days I know exactly how it feels

This is an Internet forum.  It was only a matter of time until there was some kind of Brony posting.  ;)

I like the picture.  :D

I just bought the dvd "los viajes del viento" by ciro guerra (cannes film festival) which has a promising cover with a hohner-looking 2 row contraption on the beach... Haven't watched it yet. A road movie with a button box player. Curious if it will live up to my expectations (95% music and no dialogue ;)
didn't have the courage to reread all 8 pages so sorry if it has been mentioned before.

Yes, I know, not a film, and a concertina that sounds like a PA, but I liked it. :D

Oh my goodness! This looks really good! I must look it up. Love the horned melodeon!

Oh BUM! Just checked - it is Region 1 only. >:( Is it beyond the realms of possibility to standardise these darned regions? We have a great Ozzie dvd which we can't play either.   :'(

Of course it is, then we Europeans could buy our DVDs at the same, much cheaper price as others in the world, can't think what is stopping them (:)

Recently watched the film, Morris:A Life With Bells On which unsurprisingly has a few shots of melodeons but surprisingly if you blink you will miss them.

Yes, I mentioned it a while back. "Los Viejes Del Viento" isn't just a film with an accordion in it, it's a film in which a diatonic accordion is the central character.  It's an extraordinary movie by any reckoning - I would say required viewing for any melnetter.

A while ago the entire film was posted on Youtube - since withdrawn for copyright violation - here's a taste of it in the trailer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tli4nSO4hIA

It's available on Canadian Netflix - possibly also in the US.

Hello everyone!
In the swiss film "der verdingbub" shown in cinemas in switzerland, germany and austria this year the melodeon
plays an important role. It's a dark and sad film but the "örgeli" (swiss melodeon) is the symbol of hope and consolation in
this movie. But for a beginner as I am it's rather frustrating to see this young chap playing like a virtuoso...
This is the link for a short trailer in swiss dialect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JT9C4cR5dM0
I don't think that there's an english version yet.
(I hope I did get everything right, cause this is my first post ever in a forum....Sorry for my poor english!)

Two, in fact. One in the Scottish ceilidh band, and one heard but not seen in the fair...so who were the Morris side?
