There is also one in Doctor Zhivago (played on a train IIRC).

If we include tv I have appeared on Thames Tonight (a long time ago) and Top of the Pops (admittedly as a dancer but it nearly counts)

Isn't there someone playing a one-row in the Irish dance scene in the movie "Titanic"?

Then there's The Shipping News, based on Annie Proulx's novel. Hardly surprising since we know that she loves the instrument. I wonder if she plays herself...(excellent movie, by the way).

I can't remember the programme, but I definitely remember seeing a bit of a Sunday night period drama where Tim van E was miming along to a Spiers and Boden track from the Tunes album.

Fireside Polka - it was in this version of 'Sense and Sensibility' and here is S&B's mention in the IMDB  (:)

Wasn't the theme to the first remake of the "Para Handy" series (the one before the Gregor Fisher remake) played on a single-row?

And of course I was forgetting the Melodeon in one of the greatest films of all time: The Leningrad Cowboys Go America.  Through the Miracle of YouTube this is now available: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl7_0DmwY-E&NR=1

What can one say except "Rock and Roll"?

For the ladies - and it's not a melodeon, but a piano accordion, is the movie Bread and Tulips - an Italian film, with a beautiful love story.  One night when I was busking, a woman ran up to me excitedly and told me I should see that movie, and that it had a beautiful little green accordion, and so I bought it as it was the only way I could see it, and it wasn't a little green accordion at all - but a big honking piano accordion, but the story was so sweet and good, that I've watched it a dozen times since and fell in love with an accordion tune on there, and found a way to buy the tune in an mp3 for my iPhone.

Not a film but a one-man-band type arrangement features a melodeon in a Mars advert. The popular confection that is, not the planet. Could be an Erica.

I know a film that features a B/C/C# being played very well (and therefore wins, obviously).  But to annoy you all I'm not going to tell you what it is for a bit.

OK, you've all suffered enough.  Country Dance (1970) directed by J. Lee Thompson and starring Peter O'Toole and Susannah York features the late great Jimmy Blue and his band.

The Bill Murray film The Man Who Knew Too Little has a very fine melodeon player in it and on the sound track backing the morris dancers. Modesty prevents me say who it is  ::).

I saw you in that on Film4 earlier this evening!.  :D
