Thanks Lester

I'd seen that and thought 'I'll try that next time' ... unfortunately I've walked through several doorways, been to sleep and .....

... please try my suggested workround of just clicking reload/retry a few times ...

Couldn't remember your workaround ...and searching for it simply generates another error message... not quite catch 22 but close  ::)

Paranoid?  ...used to be but now I'm certain  :P

is reload/retry on the error page or the posting page?

I'm referring to the button - usually with a circular arrow or two semi-circular arrows - on your web browser (Firefox/Chrome/Safari/IE) address bar (that horizontal bar at the top of the window that contains the forum.melodeon.net/index..... web page address). Mobile devices may look a little different.

I'm suggesting that just clicking that button a few (4?) times when the Error 403 page is being displayed allowing each click to be actioned before clicking again will eventually get you through the Error 403 pages and onto your destination melnet page.

Lester and Rees have suggested similar but more complicated sequences of actions but I think mine is simplest, provided it works (:) and I would like to hear feedback about how effective it is for other members.

Just had the issue again. F5 sorted it after 4 reloads, but one of those was trying to connect to the Seattle Humane Society (as above)

Just had the error 403 yet again - was able to post once (after quitting then reopening Firefox) then had to repeat quitting after trying to post this and got the "error 403' message - this is a joke!

Are you following the advice I posted earlier in this topic?

I'm getting this when I try to attach a pdf file for the tunebook thread:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /index.php on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request
.
I've tried from a variety of machines, although all on the same router.

Have you tried F5/Reload a few times rather than repeating the attach action...?    Vince

Yes, just tried that, at it takes me to starting a new topic, rather than the thread I was on - none of the original message or attachments.

OK, converted it to a png file. No luck. Changed file name on pdf file, no luck. Changed name to something containing none of the original words, AND converted it to a png file. Success. No idea why.

Theo - I'm getting Error 403 again now the site has been rebuilt. My workaround of multiple reloading the current page via F5 until it works still seems effective. Was the whitelisting of my IP address done again on the new site? If not, can I request it please. Thanks,  Vince.

I get 403s  about once a week - Firefox on a Mac - and have to log out - CLOSE firefox completely - log back in

On the PC/MSIE I'm using here the forum logs me out every 4 days or so.
It is the same using Safari on my iPad.  I DON'T get 403s on these!

Weird. And all a bit unpredictable, but it would be nice if it might be stabilised?
