Sing with Box Workshop - Whitby
« on: June 24, 2015, 10:59:37 AM »

Inspired by Gavin's event in Kent - there are now 2 of us interested in a Northern spin off event as part of the Whitby folk week fringe.

It looks like our general philosophies differ very little, so I'd also encourage anyone interested to practice the chords Gavin's kindly put onto the web.

Please PM me if you'd like to expand our little group to 3 (or more!) -  we can discuss a place and time convenient to all concerned :|glug

Brill - we can now do proper harmonies >:E - advice cc'd from my PM to the other fella

Could you please mug up and practice all the chords Gavin posted up for D/G and think of a couple of favourite tunes, If you can let me know (PM) what they are I can think about it in advance.

If your voice suits other keys (mine likes Bb and F) and you have a suitable melodeon please bring that too

Don't worry about evenings - I become a purely social animal after my fish'n'chips :|glug

Have a great time you lot. Bflat is a lovely key to sing in, Eflat also. I find D/G a little high,
Maybe it's just me. :o

Have Bb/Eb, which suits my voice, and I also have C/G, so could bring either.

OK - then you might also like to look at D blues scale, which is the 'built in' one on a Bb/Eb [attached]

It runs D F G Ab A C D - all pull notes over 2 full octaves!  If you want you can even extend down C(7th) and A(5th) in the octave below.

Finger it in little triangles using fingers 1,2,3 only. After a few times it becomes sort of automatic, and can also be run fluently against songs of the right genre (eg Tennessee Ernie Ford's my lightweight version ;) of '15 Tons')

Blues may happen  8) or may not :M depending on people's interests.

Could people interested please contact me personally WRT availability and we can arrange a date and place. The festival actually has empty spots for impromptu workshops, or we might simply meet in a pub.

We need to get a move on!
