This lovely tune by Jo Freya isn't really obscure, but as I was learning it and recording it to work on any flaws/ interpretation, I fluffed it and the ending is, well for me a little obscure. Just for fun and I hope I don't offend anyone. (:)

One more attempt at a John J. Kimmel piece before the month slips away. This could obviously use a bit of work, but it gives some idea:

http://youtu.be/UVCr_9SqAkw

The march he called "Allerdeen" should qualify as Obscure: I know of exactly two recordings, Kimmel's 1912 original and a setting by Christian Maes on the 2010 tribute CD set "John J. Kimmel: un héritage fabuleux." I learned it by ear from both, so my twiddly bits are probably a hodgepodge of the two versions. The mistakes are all mine.

I do like YouTube's sense of humour.  It related Lizzy's video to this:

from where I found myself watching this:

Not quite where you expect to go in a couple of clicks from a music forum...

Here's another comparative obscurity that should perhaps be played more:
The Endeavour by Greg Trice

The Endeavour was a pub where Chelmsford Folk Club used to meet.

Learned from my copy of The Greg Trice Tune Book CD which I would have bought had I not been lucky enough to get a review copy from Essex Folk News, on the strength of having known Greg in the 1970s when he and I played for Chelmsford Morris.

End of the month folks; time for a new theme! Late submissions welcome; just stick 'em on the end!
