ABC help with this tune
« on: September 02, 2015, 12:10:21 PM »

Apologies to Jack as I'm sure it's me doing something wrong...but I can't get the ABC for the Dundee Volunteers to convert on the convertomatic.  As someone who has done this before, successfully, but who is not a regular ABC user, can anyone help spot what I need to do to get it to convert? I have tried omitting one or two lines of the introductory stuff but that doesn't help.

Copied and pasted into an ABC file here and it rendered fine with abcm2ps on the command line, no error messages.
PDF attached if it's useful

Hi Mike.  The ABC renders fine in EasyABC for me.  From memory, I think the concertina.net converter has been turned off for some reason - others may know more.  Nigel

Worked fine for me on the mandolintab.net converter at http://mandolintab.net/abcconverter.php .

Replace "Slow" with "  Slow" to get the display looking better.

I can't figure out how to quit but I will no longer check this group and have deleted all shortcuts to it.

I can confirm that, and AFAIR the reason had been loads of spam...

How do you spam an ABC converter?

...imagines somebody turning G&S's "I am the very model of a modern major general" into "I am a very wealthy West African dictator"... or submit the tune of Old Man River with words like

Great long penis, get a great long penis,
Just take our Viagra
and when you shag her
your tiny weenie will become a stupendous shlong...

The problem was rather about the frequency, wasn't it?

However, maybe Rod Stewart (you know, with instrumental backing from Jeff Beck a.s.f.) would have been the man for this kind of add... :D

Melnet's smut filter used to prevent us from talking about straps, and now it lets THAT through  :o  ???

(specifically: the word "strap" followed by the word "on", I think was what used to trigger it)
