Maybe we should get bags made up with melodeon.net logos, sell them for big buck through Marks and Sparks as a utility bag then share the dividends amongst the regulars and then each one of us go out and by the box of our dreams with the squillions that we make.

Maybe we could make it mandatory that every country market should sell these bags and everyone who attends a Morris session be made to buy through Royal decree again allowing us to further indulge in our passion.

Just a thought!

I've been using one of these for about 5 years now.  It's  good for Pokerwork/Erica sized instruments

Mine is still in good usable condition, and crucially the zips are still working smoothly.

I like it so much that I now sell them,  :o and it's big brother for bigger boxes.

I think you should do what Fi does......decorate a regular well made case with all kinds of ribbons and patches - pretty it up to a girly style.  I like mine kind of girly too. I think we are born with that trait.

Speak for yourselves...the only thing that hangs off my melodeon bag is my tankard.
What's the tankard for?

Do you sell one in a size suitable for a Liliput or similar? I have a Castagnari backpack-style gig bag that came with the one box I never take out of the house; it's great for the slightly bigger boxes (none of my boxes are actually *big* you understand) but far too big for the Liliput (or, indeed, the Oakwood). Eagle Music sell a Lilly-sized one (which presumably would do for the Liliput) but it's an over-the-shoulder type rather than a backpack.

Thanks

Alison

Unfortunately I don't have a smaller one, so its either the Eagle bag with shoulder strap, or the bigger one padded out with a spare jumper. 8)

my bag is multi purpose.. i use my DJ record bag for the melodeon .
Only thing is, potentially .. i could turn up to a gig/session with a bag of records... or turn up at a club with the melodeon!

 What's the tankard for?

To show the world that one is a Morris dancer (as if they couldn't guess   :o ).

It mainly shows that there's no room inside the rucksack for a tankard, because of all the other stuff in it.....emergency beer to put in tankard, water (for when one has drunk too much emergency beer), sandwiches, dog snacks and water bottle, morris stick, waterproof coat - oh, and a melodeon.

I suppose that the equivalent is my little plastic cup that I have shoved in a side pocket whenever I go backpacking. I've never really seen the point of tankards though.

- oh, and a melodeon.

I'm surprised you've got room for one of them...  :o

Sometimes I don't... ;).

They serve pretty much the same function as your plastic cup. They also enable you to take your beer away from the pub without having to nick the glass. Pewter ones prevent people knowing what you're drinking, in case you don't think it's cool to drink fruit squash on a morris do, but they don't have to be pewter...there are some nice leather ones around. Personally, not being a fashion victim, I often use a plastic one...it tastes better.

Yeah, less lead.  ;)

They don't put lead in pewter tankards any more, but if you've got a very old one it's not recommended to drnk cider from it...or fruit juice, probably, as the acid dissolves the lead. So I'm told, anyway.

If fruit juice can do that to an innocent tankard, just imagine what it could do to your stomach lining!  >:E Much safer to fill it with BEER !
