Poll: Tune of the Month for November 2015
« on: October 25, 2015, 01:27:01 AM »

Hi folks; slightly different spin this month - we'll choose from a bank of tunes that we've done before, but some time ago to give newcomers a chance to have a go, and old timers like me a chance to see how/if their playing has changed since we had a go last.

From the top...

- Lemonville Jig - last month's runner up: Great little jig from Canada, here played by McGrooger (first tune) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnbcwXJg_DY and demonstrated slowly by Gavin Atkin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYKFRMdd32s

- Orange in Bloom / Sherbourne Waltz - lots of great versions from when we did it last, but here's Sandy playing it as a jig... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwRsDwnl_KQ and Neil playing it as a waltz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KGpE0wtj5k

- Idbury Hill - Ooh, good tune, very good tune. A rather special Morris tune, very well demonstrated here by Frank: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyX2QPLsw1A

- Cock of the North - well known jig, and barndance favourite. Here played by Gavin on a one row in C; more commonly played in G of course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFiN3tvD0Y4

There you go - choose from that lot :-)

Cheers,

Clive

Thanks, Clive, for singling-out my version of Idbury Hill, and the compliments, real and implied.  Although this will be obvious to some, I'm not using the 1/2 row, or the extra 4 basses, so in effect I'm playing a 2 row 8 bass here.   I used the 2.1/2 row Mory only because I thought its tone suited the tune.  I could have sworn I didn't play it quite so fast as this either, but I guess smartphones don't lie.
