With the question of accommodation, I was more wondering if any places to stay are better for the social aspect.

In previous years I believe both the Verandah House and the Cedars Hotel in Stowmarket have oft been frequented by M&M attendees.

As have the two local Travelodges. However the Ipswich Beacon Hill one is much nicer and more convenient for Mendlesham, rather than the Stowmarket one which nestles besides a HGV yard!

Hi Lin,

There's usually a few spare elderly boxes knocking about on the day, so don't worry if you don't have something of your own.

To anyone else thinking of coming on the Maintenance Day, it's already over half-full, so don't delay in sending in your application form (on the website, which I usually manage to make a mess of when adding a link!) ...

Must remember to send off my form for m&m once I find a working printer.
Katie are you still looking for volunteers? Mum said she's ok to help out again.

I'm not sure how frequently Katie looks in here. It's best to contact her directly via the EATMT website and e-mail:

Just to let you all know that general booking opens for Melodeons and more this Wednesday 13th January. If you're a Friend of the East Anglian Traditional Music Trust, you have 24 hours left to get your booking in at the cheapest rate! Apologies if you find the office unmanned over the next day or two, circumstances are conspiring against me this week! Email your booking anyway and I'll deal with it asap.

Ooh, this is the time I get all excited about this event, when the tutors start sending in their material for the workshops ... there's some real goodies.

Every year I think, I'm so lucky to hear all this and I'll go away and learn it all ... and then next year comes round and I haven't!

Still space in many workshops, including absolute beginners, so why not encourage someone else to come with you who'd like to have a go at a melodeon or anglo-concertina. Concert looking great too, especially as Boxtet reveal all (musically speaking!) for the first time.

When during February are the resources usually sent out? Five weeks doesn't feel like very long now!

Patience! There's a lot of stuff to coordinate between all the various tutors. Hopefully it should be sent out by the end of February. Don't worry about what might seem to be a lack of time to learn the tunes. If everybody could play them perfectly, there'd be no point in coming to the event. Just an outline familiarity with the material is fine; the tutors will guide you through things in the workshops.

I've turned up before only having listened to the tunes once coz I was busy and ran out of practice time. It was ok.  ;)

The CDs will be in the post by next Monday at the latest, possibly earlier, depending on how quickly the plant can turn them round.

When you get the CD, read the accompanying notes carefully so you know how much preparation to put in for each workshops - some work best if you can play the one or two tunes supplied fairly accurately before you get there, and for some classes that will be less important.

It's all yummy stuff!

And still a few places left ...

Thanks for the replies & reassurance - I was being (thought/hope I was being!) eager rather than impatient... I wouldn't put money on my playing anything perfectly if I had five quiet months rather than five busy weeks :-)

For the past few years, I've organised an informal session on the Friday evening at the Kings Head in Mendlesham (the only pub there).
Its a small bar but a welcoming landlord. :|glug  :|glug :||: :|glug :|||: :||:

I was planning to do the same for M&M 2016, and normally ring him a few weeks before to confirm its ok for another year.

Hope that helps :)
Do we have this arranged yet Andy?
Thanks for taking the trouble.
