Two row boxs whit crossbass
« on: December 16, 2007, 10:03:07 PM »

I am thinking, is the two row boxes whit crossbass system how general in Europe or other country?
I use crossbass term, but what kind terms to use general this bass system?

Photo is G/C box bass side.
Here in Finland this system is very public.

Thanks

Hello Aaro,

I believe what you are calling as crossbass is a direct translation from Finnish and the word is unisonoric in English language, that is, if the same voice is both on push and pull.

I haven't seen that arragement anywhere on the lists of diatonic accordion makers, but I have seen photos of old Hohners with 16 basses. It's like a two row Stradella bass layout with some of the chords changed to Minors on the row of the Major chords. That arrangement would actually be quite handy, if it only had C# on the single basses row.

PS. What does the extra circle around the E and G on the single basses row mean?

E and G  usually mark, so they are easier find. for example: glass bead.

Risto, this type of bass system is very popular in melodeons used in the Basque regions of Spain.  You may find more info on the tuning or button arrangement by visiting websites for those accordeons.

Hey, thanks for that!

PS. It's the Trikitixa then, usually with 12 unisonoric basses.
