Inspired by LDT's 'shameless promotion thread'
« on: June 07, 2009, 11:18:45 AM »

Here is my first tune. It took about 50 takes and some unpublishable swearing to get to this point - how many years before I can say 'I can only remember about 300 tunes'?  :(

It sounds like a melodeon, it has swing. The fluency will come with time. Want to hear you play again after two mounths.  (:)

A bit tentative - understandably at this stage - but you have a 'feel' for the music, which is vitally important and something that can't be taught - you either have it or you haven't!

You will be surprised how quickly your repertoire will grow. The progress seems to be exponential - at first it is slow and then it grows with increasing rapidity. Keep at it and make more videos from time to time so that you can see the progress you are making.

And well done for using the two smallest fingers on the G/D and C bass. You are then well set for using all four fingers which makes it easier to be more adventurous with the left hand.

Wow! Thank you.
I'm so honoured that my poor attempts at music have been so inspiring. :)

You are indeed inspiring, I meant it. Hey, you are a 'respected greybeard' now, there have to be some benefits to being a bearded (female) melodeon player!

Thanks for the hint (:) I am practising 'My Bonnie...'   Any more suggestions for simple tunes that go together and are suitable for a beginner playing a G/C box?

Planxty Fanny Power/ The South Shore, lovely tunes both. I think they're both in G but I'm getting a bit senile ... *wanders off scratching head*  ;D

Whoops!, I just noticed that one was in D but I'm sure you'll cope.

For a good selection of tunes to rummage through download Paul Hardy's Session Tunebook

Pete.

Edited for traditional typo.  ::)
