Thanks to the two Grahams, felt like a polka to me but heard it described as a reel elsewhere...

Dear God, thank you for helping me get and play the melodeon and harmonica. I am extremely grateful for these gifts! Amen.

In today's video I play Oige Ja Vasembra, an Estonian tune.  ;D

Enjoy!  ;D

Thanks for this. Nice tune, nicely played. The left hand reminds me of the laughing policeman. Just can't turn off the image in my mind.

A second Berlin Polka: Die Holzauktion, played on the Weltmeister 86w (two-voiced discant) and for comparison on a Dino Baffetti Art. 84 (three-voiced discant, MML), both in C/F tuning.

Once the tune of choice for polkaholics everywhere, but seems to have fallen out of favour. For years I thought it was written BY J B Milne, but it was written FOR J B Milne by Angus Fitchett. Played on the 1040 in G with a rare excursion into the grunty end.
J B Milne grew very rich establishing a chain of cinemas in Scotland.  The picture of him at the end of the video lasts rather too long...Moviemaker didn't "set end point"...

Angus Fitchett not only composed the tune but also devised the dance of the same name which was a reel rather than a polka. There are several youtube vids of it being played as a reel

My favourite rendering of it was by  the late Will Atkinson on a mouthie

Betty Fitchetts wedding ? .... A rare favourite of mine.

Baz - after I'd just started playing my concertina properly, I remember playing with Iron Men at the end of the Port Royal, Sidders. Paul was sat in a deck chair and I launched into this just learnt tune.
Paul chuckled ' hmmm.... he's got all the good ideas...'
Still feel proud of that comment even now!

No , it was composed by Sir Jimmy Shand.  There is a youtube video of Will Starr's 1955 recording  of it

Well now I know! Thanks George.
Note to self: It's a belting tune, need to play it more!

George - you need a small lesson in how to use quotes as you invariably get it wrong.

You must search out the last occurrence of [ /quote] then hit the return key and type your comment and it will not appear in the previous persons quote space.

I was briefly transported to a cobbled square in Germany, with oompah band, wurst and other German cliches swirling around. Very nice.  Great comparison too between the two boxes. I'm a sucker for MML boxes. Preferred the Dino with its warmer sound... But then it probably cost three times as much (at least) as the Welty.

Good! :D I myself prefer the sweeter two-voice sound and started to get worried why on earth I bought the Dino. It doesn't help, that the Dino's basses have less strength than the ones in the Weltmeister. >:(

Yes I found the bass on my Dino Carnival somewhat lacking.
And...I can't really tell from the vid, but does the Weltmeister have a gleichton button or is it a standard layout?

Standard.

It's a simple Hohner Goldbrand copy with some improvements in details (adjustable LH-strap, RH buttons don't dissapear in their holes, rounded LH edge, screwed-on thumb-strap instead of riveted, wooden keyboard)

I've had several videos flagged up for copyright by YouTube's automated system, which also told me I didn't have to do anything. They haven't deleted them; are you sure you really needed to delete yours?
