Toy CBA
« on: April 12, 2016, 03:31:32 PM »

There is a lot of discussion on this website about the toy Diatonic Button Accordions and I've seen plenty of toy Piano Accordions for sale. Has anyone ever seen a toy chromatic button accordion?

This is as close as I can find.

I think you will need small fingers, though.

Closest thing I have is a 12 bass version of a 3 row CBA. Pretty small, about the size of a 2 row hohner pokerwork.

This is a nice replica of a swiss accordion. (:) It would have different notes on push and pull on the RH side, but the basses and chords would be indifferent to whether you push or pull. If it had reeds.

Interesting. I have a 2-voice 3 row box with 12 bass that I was considering trying to convert into a CBA like what you're describing

I did that once, lots of carving and filling on the reed blocks as the tone progression is a bit different so the reed sizes don't match.

I actually do have a 3 row CBA about the size of a big melodeon. I got it from Theo. I suppose I ought to get it working.
And here is a picture of it...next to a Hohner Melodeon. The stradella has a fundamental, maj, min and maj7th chord, running from E in the north position to Eb in the southern position...
It's kind of the equivalent of a 2 octave PA. It weighs about 4,6kgs.

It's not a toy - but a miniature Hohner along the lines of Liliput melodeons called the Hohner Pirol.  It's a 3 row B system not a C system, it's 24 bass and it's in the hands of our very own Theo!

I own a couple of it's bigger brothers the Hohner Lucia and Hohner Cornelia which are more Pokerwork sized.

Here's another one (in Australia): Bayan-Soviet-Button-Vintage-Accordion-Childs-Musical-Instrument

I actually ended up finding one of these on ebay, looks to be same model. It's it definite need of a fixer-up but was worth the price.
