Can anyone identify this tune? I believe it is French, but may be mistaken. Thanks.

I think it is the Canal in October. I think it is by Frederic Paris (not sure I've got the name right).

It is indeed "Le Canal en Octobre" by Frederic Paris and unless I'm very much mistaken it's being played by Dominic Rivière and is the sound track of this you tube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qt-ohf6jUo

Thanks: tracked down the video; you are quite right. Lovely version; at some point I'm going to try to adapt it to the old push-pull!

Given all those basses, it's a shame he didn't make more use of them -- there are some lovely bass runs you could do under this tune on a box like this...

Yes, and it's not the first time I've seen a player with Stradella basses being less adventurous than one can be on an 8 bass two row melodeon.

Very nice Alan. Sort of an Anglisised version; also more meditative than the version that prompted the enquiry.

It was Tune of the Month October 2010 ... Great variety of renditions there including joyous push-pull versions ... (though nothing wrong with the dreamy version). Wonderful for learning.
And, while I'm at it, a gazillion thanks for TOTM and to those who contribute: it's the closest thing I have to a teacher!
