Does anyone have any experience of this weekend and what does it involve?

My kids went on it a couple of years ago, and it was good socially and musically. My daughter struggled to play from memory (wonder where she gets that from) and hence wasn't keen to do it another year. Tutors were great, and top end students too, to inspire the younger ones. She's never got into folk since, but my son has.

The Folkworks Summer School In Durham. 8th-13th August.

There are three concurrent Summer Schools, Adult, Youth and Junior.  All are inspiring experiences where music is shared, friends are made and lives changed.  There are now many marriages where the partners first met at Folkworks Summer Schools!

I went about 10 years ago, excellent week - TIm Van Eyken and Saul Rose as tutors - what more could you want?

Sorry to seem like the eternal pennypincher/curmudgeon/whatever, but does anyone know the (approximate) cost of these?

The price has been similar for a good number of years now.  A long time ago when there was an option of camping on site it was about half the price.

Crikey! I just looked out of curiosity. Folk isn't for the working class, is it?
