Chippenham Festival - anyone going?
« on: May 25, 2016, 07:58:58 PM »

Drop by the stall for a tune. I'll be in the usual spot in the Music Fair.

As well as heaps of Castagnaris, I will have demo models of Wesson Clipper in D or G, Corvette in Bb and Windjammer in C.

I'm off to see Rory McLeod in the Forest of Dean tomorrow night so looking forward to a long weekend on the razz.

No! Dangerous! There I was last year just browsing stalls in the craft tent when like Alice down the rabbit hole I found myself next to Mr Wesson's stall where a Giordy was winking at me.  You can guess what happened next  :|||:

I'll be wandering around on Saturday. I'll come an say hello, Rees, and have a go on one of your Clippers. I might leave a few Jolly Roger Accordions business cards around the place too. I particularly like watching the dancing in the street (this is the main reason I go), plus performers in the big tent, and lots of goodies to spend money on...

I will be there. Not sure what I'll be doing as I my joints won't let me dance and I'm not stewarding, but I will be there.

I shall be playing the box for First Class Stamp Appalachian.

To think I joined the band as guitar player, then the fiddler and banjo mangler became less reliable....

Playing tunes dear boy, playing tunes. Failing that I understand the non-dancers drink beer a lot.  Some of the dancers do that too but frankly that is multitasking and possibly showing off a bit.

I'm just deciding which melodeon(s) to take, lots of my buddies going this year so should be a good one  (:) :M :|glug :|||:

Hmm... you suddenly found you had the ability to sing in Welsh with an Italian accent?  ;)

Yes indeed, it was something not at all like that, Steve. Pretty much exactly not at all like that.

If I remember correctly it was two years ago at Chipp that Malcolm Bebb bought is Giordy from Rees. At the time I wondered what the attraction was but got a chance to play the Giordy in sunny Sidmouth with the result that last year at Chipp I bought my Giordy from Rees... JonM then played it at the Ravensbourne MM Ale a month or so later... and consequently acquired one too  :|||: >:E

Perhaps time to form the Chippenham Giordy band for this year's festival? Then again perhaps not.

I'm just getting (I hope) to the end of my packing ...
Regarding Giordis, I was roadtesting one at Whitby last year at Acorn Instruments' Establishment. Unfortunately, Jilly let slip the price while my wife was in earshot and as a result, Santa's sack was a little light that year.  :'(

See you there hopefully.

My other melodeon's a fiddle, but one of my Hohners has six strings! I also play a very red Hawkins Bazaar in C and a generic Klingenthaler spoon bass in F.!! My other pets (played) are gobirons - Hohner Marine Band in C, Hohner Tremolo in D and a Chinese Thingy Tremolo in G.
