Starting an unwise project
« on: June 01, 2016, 06:59:46 PM »

Well, the Unwise Project to pimp a Saxony box is complete, bellows re papered and retaped, woodwork and metal corners buffed and all in all it's looking very smart indeed. Down side is it plays like a dog, the bellows are stiff and it's harder to play than any other box I own. Oddly it's pretty well in tune and airtight; refacing the pallets and spoons helped a lot there. Upside is through trial and error I am now quite the lad when it comes to repapering and taping bellows and refacing pallets. I didn't finish up with a playable box but I've learnt a few skills. It will be appearing in a local auction soon, I don't have the balls to put it up on Melnet. I would have liked to put some before and after piccies up but the system has me baffled....

You need to put the pictures up on t'internet somewhere and then link to them. If you want you could email them to me and I could shove them somewhere and supply the links.

Alternatively you could get a young person to help you    ::)

I was highly amused by your comment that it 'plays like a dog'.

I can't say that I've ever owned a melodeon that chewed my slippers....

Lester, I can't see any pictures or links!

They were hosted, along with my website, on a free bit of webspace from Virgin. Seems Virgin have shut the free stuff down. They swear they sent me an email  :-X
