Oddball Hohner on fleabay
« on: June 13, 2016, 05:39:07 PM »

Ebay number 282060299599

8 basses but 3 rows of treble buttons - one row being all black?! Could it be a marriage between two disparate ends or an elaborate row of accidentals? I can't recall seeing such a treble end before,  perhaps it's a rarity? Any thoughts?

I noticed that too. But on closer inspection, the black buttons look as if they have been painted over! Strange.

I've found it by typing in the number but what heading does it appear under? I'm a permanent watcher of the 'Melodeon' heading and it doesn't appear there. What further delights am I missing? ???

You can also add Diatonic accordion and diatonic accordeon,   I have occasionally seen them listed just as  "Squeeze box"

No saying what reeds or tuning are in it now but from the graphics looks like a Corona treble end with a Double Ray Deluxe bass end.

Perhaps someone wanted a Corona 12 bass end on their Double Ray Deluxe and this is the left overs.

Thanks Henry, aside from those Lester listed, I thought "squeezebox" was my little secret!

As for the box for sale, it is nice to know that when opening and closing the bellows while pushing some of the white buttons it does make a noise....

It's for sale in Northern Ireland and the seller says "Clip has been added to possibly hold music notes", equals "Accordion Band instrument", equals "anything goes" to keep something functioning for the next parade... (So if, say, there's a problem with the treble end of a 2-row box, and a problem with the bass end of a 3-row, and they're the same size, the working parts are very likely to be "married" together like this. They only play them on the C row anyway, and NEVER touch the basses!)

Thanks for that Mr Triskel, it gives me a bit of a fillip as I'm embarrassed to play in public because I haven't really got to grips with my bass ends yet.

I'm waiting till it kicks out, Brian! Then, perhaps, I could get on with my melodeons without the distractions!!!!!

Plus "akkordeon", and if you are using German ebay (www.ebay.de), Knopfe Akkordeon and Knopfeakkordeon.
