I started learning this tune as The Three Pipers, but now I know its called The Breton Wedding March. I've been learning it on the pipes but here's a tentative first attempt on the box.

Wonderful! Loved the care taken over the arrangement and the whole feel. Thanks for posting it.

Ooh, that's lovely. Do you mind if I ask where you came across it?

That is really beautiful and what a lovely, sensitive performance!

The real advantage of an open theme of the month like this one, is that you may just get a wonderful surprise like this one. Love it!

If you Google 'The Breton Wedding March', it comes up on abc notation and The Session.

I first heard it as a pipe tune, took a bit of detective work to come up with the correct title. The tune on TheSession is slightly different to the way I learned it by ear.

This is a tune I first heard being played by Doug on a Buttonbox demo. The theme this month gives me a chance to trot out my new Giordy. It's being played here with a home brew mute on the treble side that I made to give it something of an indoor voice...the little rascal is loud!

That's wonderful Jeff - reminds me a bit of a concertina sound. Nice tune...is it O'Carolan?

Thanks for your comments, David. From what I can find on the internet there is general consensus that the tune is Irish, but I see no evidence that it is attributable to our favorite harper. I'll have to leave the question open for some of our more knowledgeable friends here at Melnet.

I've always thought of of it as Northumbrian, but tunearch.org seems to show Irish origins.

Lovely rendition Jeff.  The tune is really suited to the Giordy.

Thanks, Peter. The Giordy is a lot of fun to play and as a highly portable instrument, it is surprisingly useful. If I put it under a heavy bath towel, I find that it can even be played in the car on a road trip without driving my spouse crazy. You must give it a try the next time you're through town.

Dear God, thank you for helping me get and play the melodeon and harmonica. I am extremely grateful for these gifts! Amen.

I tried learning the Chicken Dance in the key of C about a year ago or more, but it was a pain to play the tune in C on my club accordion. I just recently learned to play it in the key of F, and it sure is way easier to play now!  ;D

Enjoy!  ;D

Although I can carry on messing with melodeons, the ongoing attention of the Ministry of Truth and the Thought Police will (no doubt) eventually teach me to really love Big Brother!

Hear hear! I could not agree more!  It always gives me a smile to see you play.  I relate because it's how the box makes me feel as well- though one would never see it in my face the way it shines through on yours.  My melodeon face is more akin to a man with digestive issues sitting on the- well you get the picture.

Happy,
I wish your tetris recording hadn't come out so distorted.  While it does give it a sort of heavy metal feel, I guess I think it subtracts from what is otherwise an excellent performance.
