I don't think it's possible to answer this sort of question without some technical details, but I'll try to keep it simple.

This kind of problem is usually related to the browser you are using - On an iPad it is called Safari.
The browser stores lots of files to help it work, sone of these store information about sites you have to log in to like melnet.
Over time these files can develop problems like you describe.
The solution is usually to delete all these files, and give Safari a fresh start.
To do this on an iPad go to Settings > Safari > Clear history and website data.

Can happen if you put the browser into "private" or "incognito" mode.
When you do that, you're basically telling it not to remember anything.

Just carried out your suggestion Theo and still had to log in again after a visit to Google...thanks for joining in Anahata, how would I have put Safari into private or incognito I wonder? More to the point I suppose how do I correct it? No big deal I suppose, it's not exactly wrist breaking, logging in a couple of times a day...

I'd suggest checking....
In iPad Settings...scroll down to Safari , on the right side and hidden (so scroll down on the right) is a section called privacy & security.
There's a setting for "do not track" I'd be inclined to have that off (not green)
And there's another called "Block cookies ", mine is set to "Allow from websites | Visit"

Mine did an update yesterday, so I suppose there's every possibility that everything's changed, but in any case I'd guess your settings for this would be in that sort of area.
