Start Button on a 12/11 Two row.
« on: August 29, 2016, 10:25:55 PM »

If you were to buy/have made/order a 23 button (12/11)  2 row 8 bass. .. with a two treble reed configuration in a fourth/fifth apart system such as G/C , A/D or D/G ...   which would be your start button,   4 ? 5? other..?  and what might be your start button to chin notes.?  Mostly G/C A/D as D/G tends to be squeaky to me.

And not understanding,  but aware of,  "Dutch Reversals" would this be recommended and for what type of music or exclusive of what type of music. I do not play Morris or English Country..
Mostly Nordic( Scandinavian) French Trad, a little modern, .. Fiddle tunes, Americana, Quebec..quasi Cajun and Zydeco and two Row Tex Mex ala Santiago Jimenez Jr.  etc..

Meanwhile I'll do a Mel Net search to get a bit educated.

Thanks

I would vote for THIS but with button 2 on the D row as G/A and button 2 on the G row as B/C (so G scale/Anahata)

Best start button depends on which keys the two rows are in.
Lester's suggestion of 4th start is good for D/G, but probably not needed on a G/C, unless you want some really low notes.

Keep in mind this is a 23 button, not a 21 button configuration.

Let's just say G/C and simplify.

A button 5 start makes for one hell of a stretch for the accidentals on button 1, especially as they are often just a short passing note that you need to reach in a hurry.

I'm in DG land and have a 4th button start and layout as Lester describes.
Despite small hands I can nip up to the accidentals ok, but 5th button start would be too far for me.
....if that helps
Cheers

I think I'm starting to get most of the notes in roughly the right order...... sometimes!
