Early 1900s San Francisco Galleazzi two row.
Kimric Smythe:
This beauty came in yesterday and is in amazing condition for its age (100+ yrs) the case it is in was made from wood food boxes from the American Biscuit Co.

The box is really airtight. The reeds are steel with individual brass plates.
My guess is around 1910 as the factory moved from Dupont to Jackson st after the SF earthquake and it is before "and sons" was added to the name.
It is playable but the leather valves are all curled.
I normally don't restore instruments like this but I think I will do so with this one.
pgroff:
A real beauty, Kimric, thanks for sharing it!
Assume this is a diatonic, can you tell us the voicing, keys, pitch?
Thanks,
PG
Kimric Smythe:
Found a date of what appears to be 1914 but it looks like someone tried to scrape it off the wood inside for some reason, the wax is pretty good but the leathers are shot. My guess is it was rebuilt in the 50's perhaps that is when the date was obscured/ sanded away?
it is almost a semitone sharp (about 45cents) and is in the key of F#/B.
2 reeds ,wet about 14 cents.
Nick Collis Bird:
Fantastic Kimric, but I noticed there's a bonfire in one of the photos. I hope that's not what happened to it. 8) >:E
melodeon:
What a fantastic accordion !
The wood appears to be
Cuban Mahogany
Walnut
and either saffron, yellow heart, canary wood or mulberry. I think mulberry.
I do not care for metal corners but those are very cool, as is the tooled leather strap.
A lot of eyeball, perfect busking box.
