Hi Ines, attached is "my" local version of the tune, which I happen to have lying around.

Most people (including the composer I believe) do not play different first and second-time endings in the second part. In other words, if you want to be like everyone else, just play the second-time ending both times. You might find this version more interesting though.

PS we tend to say "sheet music" or "score". Partiture isn't actually an English word, so far as I know, and partition means something different.

Cheers,
Steve

"Partition" is "sheet music" in French

Hi Ines, you do not say where you are from. Welcome to the forum anyway. There are many people who will help. Partiture is not a usual word here in the UK.

Always happy to be corrected.  (:) Have you uttered the term often, Pearse?

Thank you, arty, but that is why I mentioned it.

Sounds like a great word to me!  Suggested English definition:  'Sheet music for melodeons with both right and left hand parts written down.'  ;)

.. Have you uttered the term often, Pearse?

Don't have occasion to, but I knew I had come across the word somewhere.

Partiture isn't actually an English word, so far as I know ...

Though I'm familiar with the word, both the Oxford English Dictionary and the Oxford Living Dictionary agree with you Steve, because neither of them lists it - which makes it, by definition (or lack of one? ;)), not an English word.

Nor is partiture listed in the definitive American Merriam-Webster Dictionary, though the German form partitur is - but "only available in the Merriam-Webster Unabridged Dictionary", so not commonplace.

In my Belgian concert band partiture/partition/part were used interchangeably - and pourquoi niet  ;D

Hello Ines, and welcome to the madhouse that is melodeon.net!

Now that we've got the etymology out of the way  ::), I'll try and answer your question.

There seem to be a number of versions of the tune, and some are written out in ABC notation, but if you're looking for the partiture I'd guess you're probably looking for standard notation?

In which case Frank Lee's beutiful version has been transcribed by playandteach and attachments can be downloaded from his first post here: http://forum.melodeon.net/index.php/topic,19207.msg233861.html#msg233861

Stephen, I'd just point out that Bm is the original key (see my first post in this thread) and perhaps best for D/G players. I've heard it played hundreds of times at parties and sessions and never in any other key.

Of course, since Ines may not be playing a D/G machine, Frank's Am transcription might be more useful.

I'd almost bet she's living in a country where they play G/C...  ;)
