Rowbothamed Bb/Eb Piccoletta sounding MARVELLOUS!
« on: October 20, 2016, 01:09:22 PM »

Here's one I wrote earlier this year, when I first took hold of my newly overhauled Bb/Eb Hohner Piccoletta expertly reconditioned by Mike Rowbotham. You can hear the first recording of the night it was written here: https://soundcloud.com/melonbox-1/steve-fishers-wav

Mike had it back recently for a bit of tuning tweaking and to have the thirds taped off. I thought I'd celebrate its lush sound by recording the tune I 'found' in it

Steve Fisher was a well respected Morris musician for teams in North Wales who sadly passed away a few years ago. I was lucky enough to be offered this lovely Piccoletta of his after he died. I saved the funds to have it reconditioned. and this was the first tune I wrote on it. I like to think it was in there all the while and I just found it.

For you Steve. I never knew you, but I would have liked to.

I have a Club one in  those keys, which is almost the same box, also one that Microbot has fettled. They are a delight to play, and of course they sound so mellow. This is why, although tempted, I resisted the temptation to buy your Liliput in the same keys.
Nice tune, thanks for sharing.

Flat? Flat??

Surely he lives in some wizardly grotto surrounded by helpful melodeon elves....

Thank's Martin :-) It sounds good on the GC Castag Trilly I took possession of today too!

The view of St Ives Bay from Mike's flat is beautiful, an definitely feeds into his craft. I've been told Ellie is roped in occasionally to provide a 3rd hand when Mike's taping off thirds  :P

This didn't take long Mel. A week ago, I saw you running away with the Trilly from Peter's stall at Derbyshire PlayGroup to find you later playing a lovely tune and you finally wrapped your arms around it to protect it from allcomers. Now, it's permanently in your hands! This must mean that us students can now learn from you on a GC. Better tell the wife that I need a GC as well. Mel says...........

Lovely tune on the Bb/Eb, as ever.
