Does any one know what this is and how to do it. I have several old boxes here and thought I may like to  try something different for bit of fun

Slovenian tuning can refer to the way things are done in the country of Slovenia or in the city of Cleveland, Ohio.

Most of the button box accordions from Slovenia and Austria have three sets of reeds on the treble side tuned somewhat wet. The bass side has the characteristic helikon or tuba bass.

Slovenian tuning for piano accordions is generally quite dry with little tremelo. This is the way Frankie Yankovic had his accordion tuned. Many bands that play the "Cleveland Style" of polka music follow the Yankovic tradition.

I assume that you are refering to a button accordion or melodeon. Have some fun searching the websites of various Steierische Harmonika manufacturers. A few that come to mind are Zupan, Ruter, Melodija, Karntnerland, Strasser, and Lanzinger. (My spelling may be a bit off.)

Lynnmarie is a favorite of mine. She is from Cleveland, Ohio and now resides in Nashville, Tennessee.

I met Lynnmarie back in November 2015. She played the Lanzinger accordion at her "unplugged" concert. I got to play a duet with her on my musette piano accordion after the show. Her 3-row button box was tuned in flats, Ab/Eb/Bb, if I recall correctly.

I think the Lanzinger accordions are actually made by Fismen in Castelfidardo, Italy. Searching those two names should turn up some interesting information.

Rutar is the corrected spelling from my previous post listing manufacturers.

What's the point of having a box with Helikon basses and then not playing them?

I do not understand the question.

Who is not playing the helikon bass notes? Lynnmarie certainly uses those bass notes to full advantage.

I wish that I had a button box with helikon bass. It is what makes those Alpine button boxes special.

I can simulate the effect on my piano accordion. I have an electronic subsonic synthesizer that adds bass notes an octave below the fundamental bass notes picked up by the microphones.

Well if she is ... she wants to shoot the producer who has taken them out of the mix on those videos and let the bass guitar do all of the bass lines!  It's not an uncommon problem!

I can see her fingers moving on the left hand, but that's all.

I think they often use a MIDI bass triggered from the bass buttons too.
Either way, a waste of nice Helikon reeds.
