Sessions are remarkable things!  I can't immediately think of any other type of social event where people get together to perform a shared skill and to appreciate each other's efforts, but where too much ego is actually frowned upon, under some sort of unspoken etiquette.

Then you've not been to the Monday evening Knitting Club at the King's Arms Salford.

You're right, jb, I'm afraid I haven't.  I bet it's pretty nerveracking, trying not to drop too many stitches in public!

(I was particularly impressed by the Dalek teacosy on the link, by the way.)

Hhhhmmm..... If I remember rightly, wasn't Ladydetemps looking for a fashionable carrying case for her box?

Problem solved, me thinks!  ;D

jb, isn't that what they call 'thread drift'?

Which reminds me of the sexy blonde who walks into a bar and says "I'll have a double entendre."  And the barman replies "OK, I'll give you one."

Oh, that's so sad. Huddled there, completely engrossed in themselves and wondering what to do with the third row.  Bet they swap patterns mainly, although the reason I never took up knitting was that I couldn't get the tension right, and had troubles casting on.  ;)

Oh no - they even have their own web site!  ::)

Knitting groups aren't like that at all; they're fantastic fun. I think it would be more accurate to describe most of them as talking groups with knitting. My 'local' knitting shop is iKnitLondon, the only knitting shop in the UK with a bar. Edit: suddenly realise I have had a sense of humour failure. Oops.

Last time I knitted a bag I came to realise it stretched quite a bit when heavy things were put in it... ::)

in case it needs confirming, the King's Arms knitting group is actually pretty cool, as is the King's Arms itself (and currently serving the excellent Ginger Nuts (4.2%) from Barnsley's Acorn brewery)

Not an obvious one, according to the latest scientific evidence.

They could win Britain's Got Talent with that.

just got to make sure I don't get confused and bring my knitting rather than melodeon to the session on monday.
