...I will miss this man who I see as one of the great poets and songwriters of the past Century and this one.  I think the following sums up how I felt about his music:

"And may the spirit of this song,
May it rise up pure and free.
May it be a shield for you,
A shield against the enemy."

-Leonard Cohen RIP

(Not me playing- though I wish it was)

Only Leonard had the heart and soul to write and perform musical poetry which stirred human emotions into such a vortex. I've often wept at the sheer beauty of his creations. Handel's Messiah would be the only other music to have such a profound effect on me.
I'm pleased that he recorded so many versions of his different and differing songs, so that we can carry on enjoying him.

A terrible week for anyone of a "sensitive" disposition. Leonard was a great songwriter & a warm, generous & open-hearted spirit.  His late career revival was a gift to the world - it puts me in mind of other great artists at the end of their lives - Rembrandt for example. There are so many memorable music moments to note, but I particularly love this video clip of Leonard in Dublin. The exchange of feeling between Leonard & the audience is palpable.

RIP Leonard.
