Book or PDF?
« on: November 15, 2016, 03:02:13 PM »

Does anyone recall the name of a booklet of music for the diatonic that was published several years ago, went out of print, and I think was (is?) available on PDF?  I think it was produced by a Melnetter and I would like to obtain one if possible.  I vaguely recall Flatworld was in it.  Thanks!!

You are thinking of Alexandra Browne's book, Diatonic Liaisons. Search the forum and you'll find a few threads about it.

Alexandra Browne's (Valkyrie of this parish) fabulous book 'Diatonic Liaisons', [is] discussed at great length here:

I did try to contact Alexandra a couple of times to order a copy, but I didn't get a reply. It does look like a well constructed book.

I wrote about the book and interviewed her on my blog.

It is a v good book. But you do need to understand the repeat notation. All the tunes are written out in a super compact way, which often has me trying to fathom the repeats and variations. That is probably just me being a bit dense...but I have found it occasionally cryptic. Other than that minor gripe, it is marvellous.

I would suggest sending her (Valkyrie) a PM through the forum.

She doesn't have a stock of books any longer but occasionally gets a few printed for her. Last time this happened was February this year, as I finally bought my copy then :)
When available, she usually advertises them in Buy and Sell.
