Drunken Sailor - Free Video Lesson And Sheet Music
« on: December 07, 2016, 11:25:31 AM »

Hi,

I have recorded a free video lesson on this tune today for the DG melodeon.
It's aimed at beginners but improvers might also find it interesting , especially the end part where I involve the accidentals.

The tutorial can be found here:-
https://youtu.be/22kJMtYy2rI

Also, you can see various performances by clicking the following links

https://youtu.be/w-su8LWeIA4 - Very Slow

https://youtu.be/DsNFTDXZtKU - Slow

https://youtu.be/T7BqZw5jweo - to show the use of the accidentals

I have attached the various documents you will need - Sheet Music, Instructional Notes etc.

I hope that some of you find this useful

Thanks for this. My kids will love it. I have the tune in Dave Mallinson Book "Absolute Beginners" that came with my box so I started with it. But there are no bases given as the tune is at the start of the book. Only thing I don't have B flat on my accidentals as its a pokerwork. I'm now day 3 and probably about 3 hours in and I can't practice anymore as it's too late. So am poking about on here.  Should live in a barn in the middle of nowhere but I'm mid terrace so it matters. By the way it's all your fault I bought my box as I was inspired by your blogs. Have to say the melodeon is a lot more flattering to play than when I started with the Piano. Even simple tunes sound quite good with chords at the touch of a button. Wish I started this years ago.

My pleasure. I'm honoured to have inspired you.  I can only assume that you have a Pokerwork with low notes and not accidentals. That won't matter as the accidentals in my arrangement are only used to provide a slur which is not essential.  I wish you many years of joy with the melodeon.
