Hello,
Thanks for the registering. I do not speak english very well... Here is a short submission of this tune "rue des prés" that the forum made me remember. Perhaps one of the first scottish I learned on melodeon... And the opportunity to test my new phone for self recording.. Now I only play chromatic accordion and concertina. "Tune of the month" is an opportunity for me to keep practicing melodeon!..

I really love that rock solid rhythm. You've really nailed it!   So glad you're going to post here.  We will learn a lot.  What kind of melodeon is that?

I haven't had much time this month so it's a first take, and I had a slight panic when I got to the end and realised I'd not worked out a way to finish it.

Thanks very much Roland. Catchy - yes indeed. I didn't vote for it, but it caught up on me after watching all the videos.

Must confess that I warmed to this month's theme very slowly, but after all the lovely submissions we've had, I was completely won over. Thanks to Mr. Durand for his tune and the nice people at melnet who brought it to my attention.

Thanks for posting this video. I particularly enjoyed your version. After listening once, I grabbed a melodeon and felt compelled to play along during my second time viewing it. I hadn't learned the tune, but the clarity of your playing made it possible to learn by ear, before the end of my first viewing.

Thanks, Mr. V. It is such an engaging tune. Nice to know that both of us are finding it so rewarding to play. Thanks also to Playandteach, both for his welcome comment above and for the many helpful contributions he makes to this forum.

Hello everyone,

I've already commented on this thread yesterday (that is before January ended) but sadly the server transition has somehow deleted my user and posts.

All of your versions/variations have been a great pleasure to listen to, especially Mcgrooger's and tjsmithdog5's recordings have been helpful to me so far.
I'm trying to learn the song myself now and the first part works out quite well so far. The second part is a bit of a riddle to me but I'm confident that I will get it sorted out. :-)
If I succeed one day, I will try to remember posting a recording of my own on here.

Best wishes from Germany,
Fred

Alright, now I'm sorry to reinvigorate this year-old thread but I've just remembered my post on here. It's the one just above this one and I said that I will one day post a recording of the song how I play it. Well, now that I've been able to play it for quite a while (I'd say almost a year ;) ), I've figured that I should quickly record my interpretation of it. There's a big hickup at the end of the recording but other than that I'm relatively happy with this one-take. (:)

Nicely done Fred. It matters not that this is an old thread - in fact it is nice to be reminded of some of these old TOTM's - it makes me want to have another go at it. I recently posted a video which was three and a half years late but that is the beauty of TOTM - there is no time limit.

I should have done this a long time ago, having suggested this tune for TOTM. This was not easy so hats off to those who regularly record on TOTM.
