Mobberley Rose Queen Festival sees the dancing of the Boys' and Girls' hornpipes...though sadly both are danced by girls these days.  The boys' hornpipe is danced to a version of The Trumpet, the girls' hornpipe to this https://youtu.be/dBS1vqCmGT8 which seems to be a variant of The Steamboat...making it doubly fitting. It was recorded in response to a request from the dancers for tunes to practise to at home, so it do co on a bit. Key change is purely gratuitous.  :|glug

Posted previously: The "Navy Lark" theme (Trade Wind Hornpipe)
Also The Steamboat Quickstep and Liberty for the Sailors when we had the same ThoTM in 2012

I'll think of something new...

As I was noodlin' on the box, this one popped out. Thought I'd give it a go.

Not entirely in the spirit of this, I know, but I wrote one last night with a view to capture a lazy afternoon spent on the river. It's called Punting. Pdf of sheet music attached on the Playandteach tune book thread.

Just noticed the mic cable hanging loose - so this is just inbuilt video camera mic.

Got myself it for a Christmas present. It is a used (ebay) Panasonic V700, and the reason for getting that model is that it is about the cheapest video camera with an external mic socket (which I forgot to use this time!). Don't remember exactly what they go for new (too much for me) but I got this for about £125 used.

I took a risk buying from someone with low feedback rating, (which is why  no-one else bid) but I checked the reasons for low feedback, and it was just annoying things - in fact he sent it to me without the power lead, and had to send that on later. I do find it easier than setting up the laptop with Audacity, and merging the audio and video later. I normally use an old Electret Sony condenser mic I've had lying around for years, with the new camera. Otherwise I use a Yeti mic with the laptop. Too much info?

A brief contribution with a couple of obvious choices, apologies for the visual gloom.

Best wishes

I thought it was a well known Irish tune.
it is a well known tune in the sessions I go to, often paired with connaughtman's rambles.
Great job on both tunes I need to learn the first one.

... and here's a nautical one for you, Floating from Skerry written by Lynn Tocker a *long* time ago.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubm8p7P0Sx8

One of the first tunes to come out when I tentatively picked up a box again, and it came out surprisingly well I thought, so I recorded it. Played on a Castagnari Lilly in A/D. I was quite pleased with it... until I heard Lynn's version (search for it on youtube)... ah well. If you've not heard of Lynn, by the way, she's a fine piano accordion player from Northumberland, and played with the Kathryn Tickell Band for a year or so when it first started up before dropping out of the professional music scene. Also famous for winning the first BBC2 young folk musician of the year. She still plays, and is a hell of a player, as youtube will testify to.

Here's The Three Sea Captains on a C/F Hohner Club II Victoria.  Recently tuned but needs a bit more work on the clacking left hand.

Good tune!

Here's my tune https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDQ-9PeLwVs
Although not nautical really the title makes me think it is.
Da Slockit light  in C. Originally composed in D. I did one in D as well but posted this for feed back.

Anyone know what the sound is I'm hearing on play back? Seems to be when hit and hold home key and to me sounds like someone's ringing the phone. Hope it's not a weak reed:(
Funny I did not hear this while playing it.

CeilidhChris playing The New Rigged Ship reminded me of The Rigged Ship. Usually played with Moll i' the Wad at our local session so that's what I've done here.
