Beginner in Horsham, Sussex requiring lessons
« on: July 12, 2009, 03:03:56 PM »

Hello there,

I'm learning the English melodeon (d/g) and, to be honest, i think i need a bit of help. I was wondering whether there is anyone in Horsham, Sussex who is available to teach a newcomer how to play the thing?

Thank you.

You could try contacting the local morris sides. They are almost certain to either have a melodeon player or know someone who plays the melodeon and who would be prepared to help you.

I dance with a border morris side called Mythago based in Ashurst (West Sussex) & there are two melodeon players & one piano accordion player - I'm sure they'd be more than happy for you to come along & watch them play/pick up tips etc.  I only took up melodeon a few weeks ago (but have played violin for the past 13 years), and to be honest it was the morris that gave me the bug!  We have quite a few members from Horsham.  Our website is:

As Horsham is just up the road from Crawley, I guess you could pop into the Hobgoblin shop and ask about it there.
