Many thanks Anahata. Wonder what relation John Stickle was to Fredaman Stickle, who played(composed?) one of my favourite tunes 'Christmas Day i da moarnin' - I should have recorded that but bit late for Christmas !

It's one of my transcriptions which, as far as I remember, I did a few years ago, at the request of Ollie King (but it might have been Owen Woods).
Glad to see it's doing the rounds...  ;)

I think I'm starting to get most of the notes in roughly the right order...... sometimes!

Thanks for the link to the old thread.
In it I see its offered as a version transposed to D to enable the F nat in the G version to be played as most 2 row DG's don't have a low F nat ( and it now becomes a C nat when transposed in D which we do have )

I hate to pose this question, but I wonder if it is commonly played at sessions in G as suggested and the DG melodeonistas simply play an F# in the hope no one notices  ::)

As far as I know, it is very rarely played in sessions, if at all. No one seems to know it. On the few times I have ever started this tune in a session I was met with blank looks, stares, a general lapse into conversation and a drift to the bar.  So I gave it up as a bad job.   :-[

I can understand that.
I remember trying to play it at Sidmouth ( when on concertina ) when it had recently come out, with some very accomplished fiddlers and it was an effort!
One to think about ..... But a great tune.
