Midsomer Murders
« on: February 04, 2017, 03:09:36 PM »

Just been watching a 2009 episode of Midsomer Murders (we're bang up-to-date here in Cyprus, as you can see) called "Small Mercies", and I wondered if anyone knows who the trio were who played for the (unconvincing, but not because of the music) barn dance scene and also provided some of the incidental music.  Melodeon/fiddle/cittern (bouzouki?).

Cheers

Among others, Saltarelle Pastourelle II D/G; Hohner 4-stop 1-rows in C & G; assorted Hohners; 3-voice German (?) G/C of uncertain parentage; lovely little Hlavacek 1-row Heligonka; B♭/E♭ Koch. Newly acquired G/C Hohner Viktoria. Also Fender Jazz bass, Telecaster, Stratocaster, Epiphone Sheraton, Charvel-Jackson 00-style acoustic guitar, Danelectro 12-string and other stuff..........

Graham: I have a very vague idea that this has come up before. Have you searched here at all?

My other melodeon's a fiddle, but one of my Hohners has six strings! I also play a very red Hawkins Bazaar in C and a generic Klingenthaler spoon bass in F.!! My other pets (played) are gobirons - Hohner Marine Band in C, Hohner Tremolo in D and a Chinese Thingy Tremolo in G.

I think that was Simon Care on the melodeon.

Thanks; not,I confess, a name I recognised, but a quick Google search soon found him. I really should have known who he is.......

.....cittern (bouzouki?).

Octave mandolin or mandola I would say.

Chris Leslie was playing fiddle, Hugh Crabtree on box and Mike Sanderson, organiser of Nettlebed Folk Club, playing octave mandola.
