Hi just thought I'd post a very simple arrangement of Grimstock, Playford 1651 up as a PDF. I've done it up in D it has simple bass note accomp which can be modified, of course, to taste. Hope you like this very interesting and extremely catchy tune. The key is to keep it moving. I like playing it  - hope some of you out there enjoy it too!

Thanks Al. The first time I came into contact with this, I thought we were being asked to perform a "Grim Stockade", which I took to be some dance step peculiar to Mr Playford and his disciples. It was some time before I came to realise that it was a "Grimstock Hey"! Well  .... ..

Tony Battilana, who often attends Melodeons at Witney has published a book of many of the Playford tunes arranged for D/G melodeon. It's called 'Push-pull Playford'. There is an audio CD which comes with it too.

I'm not sure where you can get it from - Tony used to have it for sale at Witney -  but there is a (rather isolated) web page about it here:

Does anyone have a good arrangement for Sallinger's Round? This is a top notch tune but can sound a bit dead after two or three times through.

I bought my copy directly from Tony using this precise link -- so it worked for me. And it was not that long ago. Highly recommended. I've also seen it on festival stalls a few times -- I think PJ Music did indeed have it at Ely last weekend for example.
