FS: Jiggery Pokerwork - The John Spiers Tune Book
« on: March 22, 2017, 11:40:13 AM »

Hi - I've been prompted by Theo to put my advertising here (Thanks Theo)

My new tunebook is available to pre-order now for £12 + P&P for a physical copy or £8 to download the digital edition as a PDF from my website https://www.johnspiers.co.uk/shop

My last tune book went out of print about 12 years ago, this one has about twice as much material in it, 59 tunes in total including all those I've recorded so far and many more.  The majority of the tunes are written on a D/G melodeon and for those in more outlandish keys, I've also included a transposed version in a more "folk-friendly" key.  The book is professionally printed this time round on 52 pages and is split in to sections for Hornpipes, Jigs, Polkas & Reels, Schottisches, Slow Airs and Miscellaneous, there's a section at the back with descriptions of all the tunes too.

The Digital Edition is exactly the same material on a high quality 50 page PDF (I took out the 2 blank inside covers!) and may be more convenient for some people as it is fully indexed with PDF bookmarks and it also has links to videos of the tunes being played where available.  Obviously it is also cheaper and it avoids the high shipping costs if you're outside the UK.

Pre-orders will be sent out around the middle of next week.

As I learn by ear and use ABC Squeezy's book has prompted me today to get to grips with the notation, am pleased with the results so far!

I took delivery of the books this morning and will be annoying my local post office very soon!

I have to say they look very smart indeed, my local printers in Kingston Bagpuize have done a lovely job.

All I have to do now is get rid of them :-)

Mine came yesterday too. Lovely book, beautifully produced with very clear music typography. Also nice quirky and interesting notes about the tunes!  (:)

Great stuff. Knew I should have bought the download as well so I can see which ones I can play on the Giordy, whilst on my ski hol... ::)

Mine arrived too yesterday. I'm thinking of it not so much as a book, more as 20 years homework.
