Need to learn a tune
« on: May 17, 2017, 12:28:50 PM »

This will be a long term project!
Said tune is Solid Air (not that one) by Lauren Kruge & Claire Halliday
https://youtu.be/tFFMwuldqds

Has anyone played it, got dots, got abc or anything?
Need if for a solo NW Morris Jig (you can find that on youtube too), but it's a splendid tune regardless.

I think you've plumbed the depths of melnet iignorance  ;D. It happens. A direct approach to them what wrote it might get a result.
Claire his a twitter page. You might get in touch through that. She seems a good sort.

You know Lyra, that is an easy tune to learn by ear - very easy in fact and I think you would crack it quickly if you tried.

Listen to it a few times, get the shape mapped out in your mind, find where the sections start and where they come to rest, then fill in the blanks.

Here are two clues to get you started: the first part starts on B, and the second part starts with switching between E in the lower octave and e in the higher octave. Go on, give it a go.  (:)

i can surely do that, and will. I was just wondering if it had already been wrote down as the others who need it are hardline dottists and I am incurably lazy  :|||:

That's a great tune.  I'm sure I could figure it out and score it for you.  Let me know - f.o.c. of course!!

I am with Clare at practice, she says there are dots somewhere, although she doesn't read them she knows someone who may have them. If she finds them she is happy for me to post them here. And pleased that someone wants to learn it!

Fabulous!
Amanda wants to dance the jig in New Zealand and will be equally chuffed at chuffiness.
I'm more thrilled with approval than thought of dots, as I am as previously said, capable but lazy. Although it would be nice to have the original,  it's not something to stress over.
I love this community!
