Hello all, new guy here
Mike Mccarthy:
apologies if this is in the wrong place or is not the etiquette round here, but I always think it's a bit rude to jump into someone's house and not even say hello 1st, so thought I'd say hello. Total newbie to squeezebox playing, am mostly a guitar picker and fiddle player. But age and a misspent youth seem to have caught up with me and am getting arthritis in my left hand, so am looking for a new instrument to continue my folky ambitions.
Am sure I will have a ton of questions for you all along the way.
Winston Smith:
Welcome, Mike. I would guess that you're in good company here, many of the members whom I've met are in the same sort of boat; getting older and stiffer.
Grumpy:
Hi Mike and welcome, I'm certainly no expert myself (starting late I may well never be) but here you will find many expert players (and repairers) that give their time and help freely. I think it would help all if everyone gave at some time their rough location (I'm in the swamps in Surrey, England) as we may well be talking to someone anywhere in the world and any help or advice may well be tempered by location, for all I know you may well be in the next street to me and I could invite you to local folk sessions, or, others in your own area may well offer help and company. Have fun and enjoy, Regards Chris D
Mike Mccarthy:
Hi Chris, I'm in NW Devon, not quite the middle of nowhere, but about a mile from it.

Hello Mike. I think you'll find you've come to the right place.
"Find yourself a morris team and drink lots of beer", as someone once said. Actually, they don't drink that much beer, as a rule (usually have to drive) but they are very sociable and always ready to welcome new blood. The site below is the most informative for those interested in folk music, including morris. You should find someone near you (other styles of playing are available).
