Will it perchance be making an appearance at Chippenham Folk Festival?

Sorry, no - not at Chippers this year.

My bank account breathes a sigh of relief - wot abaht Sidders?

Frayed knot.

I'm intrigued by the choice of name Rees, not an obvious (to me) anagram or marriage - do tell

Hope it does well

It's the name of a fellow musician, bass player in Joe Le Taxi, the highly talented Clovis Phillips (son of Tim Phillips, violin maker).

It's a fraction smaller (and lighter) than a Tommy whereas the Laura is bigger.
The Laura has a full size keyboard. The Clovis has a compact keyboard like the Tommy.

is this a new market segment ??  what is the likely competition . is the design conventional reed blocks?.
I wondered if it is possible to have one reed "flat mounted" and its mate in a normal reedblock. to get a special sound.( do some organetto have a mix like this.)
hope this new model finds its niche ,smaller but capable boxes seem the trend.
best of luck with it.. brian.

What a lovely compliment, to be imortalized in an instrument model name  (:)

And a century hence it will probably bug the hell out of that generations Triskel (et al) equivalents trying to fill in the holey bits of melodeon history  ;)

How does it differ from the Dinn, which I thought was Tommy size but just MM?

The Dinn II (MM) is about the same size as the Tommy but has a flat keyboard. The Clovis has a stepped keyboard and a keyboard grille.

It used to be that the Tommy and Benny (don't know about the Lilly) suffered from lack-lustre bass end sound, generally assumed to be down to the size of the box. Does the Clovis have a more prominent bass end (like the DB Carnival, and even the Liliputs)?

Dinn has a standard size keyboard, Clovis has compact keyboard.

There's more free space inside a Clovis so the sound is better.

It maybe the case that the bass was weak in earlier  Tommys and Bennys but this now  not the case

My newer Tommy has powerful bass. Never crossed my mind, I will say I didn't like the thirds taped, of course they sounded weaker.

That sounds very nice Rees; it's clear and punchy. I'm surprised they didn't already have a model along those lines, I imagine it'll be popular. Shame I missed you at Tredegar, wouldn't have minded giving it a whirl!

It's the English Country Music Weekend (ECMW) in Abbots Bromley this month (23rd-25th).
I'll be there with a few of the Clovis for folks to try. Let me know if you'd like me to bring anything else from my website.
