melodeon.net compose-a-tune challenge
« on: July 24, 2009, 08:49:37 AM »

I've written the first bar of a tune:

X:1
M:4/4
L:1/8
K:G
GABc d2cd|

I'm now passing this over to the good people of melodeon.net to compose subsequent bars to see what kind of tune we can collectively come up with.

Happy composing  :||:  :|||:

Ah.

If you post it as a bar of music using notation software I'd be happy to convert it to ABC.

Alternatively, whistle it over t'internet to me  ;)

Splendid idea! They do say the French tune dromadaire was composed by a committee. You've picked  out our first 5 notes as major. I'd personally like to move bar 2 into minor as a contrast - that means using either Eb and F natural  >:E  Keeping the F# sounds rather more 'Lawrence of Arabia'.  I think might even get both F's in there somehow? 'F' as in 'F oFF' I hear someone say  ;)

Got to go to a meting just now - but will come back. I'll stick rigorously to notes easily available on a 2 row with accidentals.

Back: hmmmm I didn't get quite what I wanted at work either! Never mind, the dromedary is a notoriously stubborn and obstreperous beast. I'm stuck here on call and if it's quiet can come back after the weekend with something 'alternative' starting on those same notes.

Look forward to main theme too ... sounding nice already. Chris

Well, we've got to the end of a 4-bar phrase, so the logical thing would be to repeat the first bar again:

M:4/4
L:1/8

Only one more bar to go to finish the A-music....
Shall we repeat the whole A?

I think we should.

Then off to the B music. I wonder where that will take us . . .

Thought I'd bring this one back to life . . .

I've already had two goes at this and feel I shouldn't hog any more of the tune, and the fyffes banana jingle threw me a bit...  ::)
