Lilliput chord reeds help needed
« on: June 26, 2017, 02:35:41 PM »

Hello all
Would anyone- by any chance- have a reed layout for chords to show what 3 notes /reeds make the  Bb/Eb Lilliput chord please? (still in original club layout) bass and treble side is fine.
There are 5 reeds came off the block and I do not know what goes where  :o .. Steve had excellent layout table  for D/G & I am hoping he has one for each key  nudge-nudge Steve
Many thanks Mus

Sorry - I don't have a layout chart for Bb/Eb and I've never opened up a Liliput to see which chord reeds go where. I would also urge caution with the chord reeds anyway; judging by my experience with other Hohners, the chord reed set-up can vary, even between boxes of the same tuning. So you probably need to work out the locations on your particular box by pinging the reed tongues and matching the resulting pitches with the pallet/air vent openings on the chord reed block. Other fettlers may well be able to advise further.

I don't have a diagram of the reed block but this is the reed pairs you should find for the chords:

Bb/F:    Bb/C, D/E, F/A

Eb/Bb:  Eb/D, G/F,  BbBb

G/Cm:  G/G, B/C, D/Eb

Db/Ab: Db/Ab F/C Ab/Eb

You can telll where to place each chord on the block by looking at which pallets open when you play each chord button.

I think that this was perhaps what Theo intended (hope I'm not mistaken)

So, in full:

Bb/F:         Bb/A   D/C    F/F

Eb/Bb:       Eb/D  G/F    Bb/Bb

G/Cm:        G/G    B/C    D/Eb

Db/Ab:       Db/C   F/Eb  Ab/Ab

Or if de-clubbed, then instead of Db/Ab:

Ab/Ab:       C/C   Eb/Eb  Ab/Ab

All notes fall between G3 and F4
Exception: the G/F plate in the Bb/Eb chords should probably be octave 4, though mine is actually octave 3 as I prefer that inversion. I've actually swapped it a few times, but can't now recall what it was originally  :-(

Hope this helps, Mus.

(Edited to add and explain octave numbers)
