Clever person needed
« on: August 31, 2009, 07:29:27 AM »

I have just bought the newish Brass Monkey CD - Head of Steam which I thoroughly recommend if you have not got it. I would like to play the The Moldavian Schottische - The Snowdrop Polka but am unable to find the notes/ABC and it is played in C so I am really struggling to get it by ear. Has anyone done this yet and is willing to share?

Theres a little gadget on my laptop soundcard settings that can shift the pitch of the output up or down, its quite crude but has allowed me to just about put tunes into the correct key, helping me to learn by ear. Maybe the internet can provide a similar tool?

A good question!

I tried but my head is stuck in D and G and, although the fingering is the same, it just maked my brain hurt. A kind member of the board is activly helping me out and I will share when I get the tune.

i use the pitch shifter in Sony Sound forge .. it can only do +5 or -5 without crunching up the sound file.

lester... i dont know if this will help http://www.onmvoice.com/play.php?a=8234..this is a version by the Albion Band.. i've tuned it down to D for myself.

Or you could play it as written and explore the extra buttons for the A and B parts as well as the C. It works really nicely on a Club box.
