On the melodeon.net forums 90% of the responses are totally off-topic.
90%? Oh come, now. I think you exaggerate.

Not at all, it's actually 95% ::)

I refuse to contribute to this thread as it's far too long already.

Oh dear, I just did.....   :-[

Still no play at Edgbaston? Might as well go to bed. 'Night all.

Apparantly Australia have dropped Hughes, but Johnson has kept his place... you're not even reading this thread any more, are you Miklos? Sorry about that - we're a friendly lot really!

The obvious answer is to post something frivolous and some swine, probably with influenza, will make it serious with some incredibly boring rant on the ruination of the twiddle thingy when Hohner changed from DC to AC electric powered tools.

They have changed, haven't they?

Maybe you have a point.

IMHO, the off-topic, irrelevant comments make an interesting/great topic very hard to read from the junk/thrash of chitty-chatty comments.

Miki,

Think of us more as a bunch of enthusiasts and old friends (indeed, quite a few of us are known personally to oneanother) meeting up in a warm, cosy place (a pub bar maybe?) for a chat, and bear in mind that there wouldn't be anybody here to answer your questions if the site was boring and unfriendly.

Perhaps it's unfortunate that one of Miki's first threads, about Martin v Tommy, turned into a discussion about cars! :(

Certainly unfortunate! It should have turned to motorbikes! (Gnash, gnash. Rege, rage)  >:E

I guess motorbikes don't have the same obvious similarity that cars do, in that both accordions and cars have a grille on the front of them, which can change from year to year on some models. I was also going to say that I couldn't think of an accordion brand that has the same name as a motorbike (whilst there have been accordions branded Alfa and Ferrari), but then I remembered Yamaha  ::):

Mind you, when I lived in London (in the '70s/'80s) there were a couple of my melodeon-playing friends who were also into British bikes, so I soon got to recognise the different sounds of a single-cylinder Matchless and a B.S.A. coming up my garden path...  ;D

Interesting combination.  For a few intense years, I was interested in Italian road-racing bicycles and Spanish nylon-stringed guitars.

What are some other's penchant combinations? (not that I want to steer this thread off-topic.. 8))

You have a very understanding family. When our girls were young 10 seconds was about the limit and my brother in law had to practice in the garage.

Interesting list. Curiously 'Fanny' makes no appearance. In USA this is to the rear of the body,  ie as sat on. Here of course .. more gynaecological. Fanny is still a popular name in France (where they didn't have that notorious book).

.. see below

Didn't one of the famous British golfers have a caddy called Fanny?
