Nooo... would love to but there are limits. Did the Faustus weekend a year or two back and it was excellent.  Am already going on the Blowzabella weekend the month before so I think two is probably quite enough.

BTW if anyone is wavering book now, this event appears to be almost full. A buddy rang them this morning to find that only shared single accommodation is available - might be different if you're travelling as a couple or with a melodeon buddy though.

What with Blowzabella, Melodeons and Leveret at Halsway I reckon I might be close to overdose ! And then there's Wensleydale, and the Border box event - might need another box... ::)

Hi all, I've just booked onto this. It'll be my first workshop so I'm just trying to figure out my level of ability. Does anyone have any pointers? I guess I'm somewhere between beginner and intermediate I can play a few tunes without the music in front of me but I mainly follow ( or try to!) sheet music. Would the intermediate level be too hard? Thanks for any advice!

I know it's for Wensleydale and not Halsway, but here are the ability levels we use, which might be useful as a general guideline:
http://melodeonsinwensleydale.org.uk/ability-levels/

These in turn were based on the Melodeons at Witney ability levels which have been successfully in use for many years.

These aren't really applicable to Halsway as you don't need to choose in advance - attendees sort themselves out when they get there and can get advice and change groups.  Nice and flexible  :|||:

Fraid so. Only just got over Blowza weekend but being a glutton for punishment am going to Leveret weekend at Halsway as well.
I thought having been attempting to play for nigh on forty years I might as well cram in some intense learning before it's too late...if it's not already !

I'm looking forward to meeting those of you going to the Leveret weekend.

I still don't know which degree of competence I should lay claim to. I can play a bit, well, probably more than a bit, but my playing is a bit vanilla and I prefer moderate tempos. I like to work with the dots, but I don't think that will be happening. I'm rubbish at picking stuff up by ear but I get there with perseverance and I am very interested in ways to play ensemble without formal arrangements.
