Trio Dhoor - UK tour
« on: September 02, 2017, 05:11:10 PM »

There are playing at 7 locations between 27 October and 4 November. I'll probably go the gig in Bury.

whoop! Don't miss them, and be prepared to dance. Hartwin on box, Koen (said "coon") on Gurdy, and the deceptively brilliant Ward on accoustic guitar. One of the best things out of Flanders since Naragonia. Saw them last in Gooikoorts in July, where this years tunes were somehow … softer.

Bury or Flint for me. Thanks for the heads up.  (:)

Yes, it is a shame there isn't something on the same page as Newcastle.
I wonder how the venues were selected. They did say they'd have a tune book out soon.

I really recommend them. I came across some youtube clips of Hartwick playing solo a few days ago. Really high quality videos showcasing Hartwin's superb playing & the unique sound of his Van der Aar box.

I'd love to hear them - shame no gigs close to me - but did someone mention one in Flint ? Otherwise Bury I suppose.

I wonder how the venues were selected.

Venues generally select themselves by bookng a band - and their website says "Availability:30 & 31 October 2017" (so between Bristol & Basingstoke) suggesting they're still looking for a couple more gigs in the UK, if they can get them somewhere...

Maybe somebody could yet put on a gig in Newcastle, or somewhere?

I was playing at Frans van der Aa's stall in Gooik 3 years back when Hartwin turned up to collect his new box (yes, of course I'd had a go  ;)) He went ape and played for about 25 minutes. It was sheer joy  (:)

The sound isn't "unique" though. Mine is very similar! But tone and lightness were my determinants in commissioning it.

Last entry is the Flint one …

GWAENYSGOR VILLAGE HALL 7 April. Just inland from Prestatyn.

A bit off piste and inexplicable, but well in range for me  (:)

Ooh a Welsh one! Although North Wales is harder for me to get to than most of the south of England to be honest ;D

So few UK folk acts come to Wales, and even fewer now that Bellowhead have finished. A few people make it down to some of the folk clubs over here but we could really do with some good mid-sized gigs.

Rob

You'd be better coming to the Bristol one although the timing is a bit strange as its from 4.00-6.00 p.m but it's in the centre of Bristol so straightforward to get to.
