Québécois Tune ID
« on: September 14, 2017, 05:04:54 AM »

Hello all,

Would somebody be able to identify the song played here by André Brunet? I have heard the tune before but can't place the name. Thanks!

I don't know the tune, sorry, but I love the stomp box.

Hi Amanda. Saw your post at the other place. It's a tune I heard and joined in with quite a few times at québécois sessions this summer. But as with a lot of québécois tunes I have no idea of the name. People I know will know, though - I'll make enquiries.

It's similar to  Reel de Mme. Renault - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgdqPdHnjRM

The answer comes from André himself, through a mutual friend:

C'est rare que je me souviens des titres moi aussi mais celui-là s'appelle: La soirée chez Alcide. Mme Thérèse Rioux avait appris la pièce sur la radio.

The description of this clip says that Thérèse Rioux composed it rather than heard it on the radio. More investigation required...

Great tune, great playing. I'd love to learn it but it is miles above my level of playing sadly. Sounds so much meatier on a melodeon. Thanks Stiamh.
