Return of Tune of the Month Poll: November 2017
« on: October 27, 2017, 01:42:46 PM »

I don't think anyone does the suggestions on the themes, do they? Good grief, even I don't! So let's try going to back to a normal poll this month: this month's suggestions:

Country Gardens - runner up last time and courtesy of Lester, here we are: http://lesters-tune-a-day.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/tune-237-english-country-gardens.html ; great tune.

Si Bheag Si Mhor - here's some bloke playing this in 2010, first ever theme of the month I believe  An O'Carolan piece, which I'm rather in to at the moment. http://www.melodeonvideo.co.uk/2010/02/16/si-bheag-si-mhor/

Midnight on the Water - great waltz this, by Luke Thomasson, played here by yours truly again - the scary thing is watching yourself age in the different recordings; this one from 2015: http://www.melodeonvideo.co.uk/2015/10/07/midnight-on-the-water-played-by-clive-williams-on-melodeon/

Elizabeth Clare - Lester's got a recording of this one too, and here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QR4ji5Xq9uo . Lovely waltz written by Chris Wood.

There you go folks; happy voting!

Sorry Clive, but should this be Tune of the Month Poll: November 2017? Or is it a very short window to post in?

Cheers,

Any particular reason why voting closed before midnight GMT tonight?

And here's a video of Chris Wood and Andy Cutting playing the tune at the end of Hares on the Mountain.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JDsWOZz3eec
It was lovely to play this tune with Jack and his gang at the Broomfield Tavern session in Coventry last night, where I am visiting. Really enjoyed everyone's playing!

Right. In line with the new me, no dots from the start. Learn by ear, play by ear. I don't think on first hearing thar Lester's one is on a DG, so I'll find one.
