Any statistics on popularity of Button box per country / county ?
Chris:
Hi,
I'm wondering if there is somewhere some statistics available showing the popularity of the button box per country / county.
I know for example that G/C is very popular in France but A/D is also played in some regions of France and the same for the C/F. With regards to the irish semitones box, it looks like C#/D is more popular than B/C and it seems to be the opposite in Ireland.
I don't know if such map of button box popularity over the world exists somewhere but I would be interested to have this view?
Maybe a poll on this forum could help building such view?
Cheers
Chris
Theo:
I don't think a poll would generate any useful information. The membership of this forum is heavily skewed towards England, so poll results would be far from being "statistical".

I can tell you that as far as I know there are about 20 diatonic button accordions in Cyprus - and 15 of them are mine.........
Chris:
Interesting and how are they tuned? D/G?

Let me guess. Hmm, a D/G, 1 row in C, 1 row in G, a G/C, a Bb/Eb and a bunch of others. Close?
What are the other 5, though?
