Hoping to try out an Erika 12 bass conversion
« on: June 14, 2018, 04:44:03 AM »

I'm planning to have my 1930's Hohner Erika converted by Mike Rowbottom to a 12 bass configuration and wondered if anyone in England has one they'd be able to give me a short play on first. I'll be at the ECMW then Yorkshire/Lakes district and later the Devon/Cornwall/Sussex areas over the next six weeks. Please send me a PM if you like.

Thanks, Ian

Hi Ian,

.... there are now quite a few 12-bass Erikas out there - but if you don;t get a response, I'm currently setting up a 12-bass Erika in D/G for a customer and it should be finished (or nearly so) about the time you're in Cornwall.

So there should be one here to try!

cheers

Mike

If your travels take you past Bedford, you could drop in and try mine (G/C). Feel free to PM me.

I found my way down to sunny Cornwall and got to play both Mike's 12-bass and his 3-voice modified Erikas. They are absolute beauties to play. The most responsive and fun to play Hohners I've ever come across.

Cheers Mike. The short time I spent with you both was a highlight of my trip.

Regards Ian
