Talking about channelling Stevie Nicks - I now have a mental image of someone playing on one leg a la Jethro Tull flute.

I had a go at playing Midnight on the Water for the first time at a session on Tuesday, said I hadn't figured out what to put it with as a set, and someone suggested Smoke on the Water. I think that's worth working on don't you? If only to pxxs off the fiddle players.

ps Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head works really well on D/G melodeon, if you can take the middle thirds out you can get lots of nice scrungey jazz approximation chords in there.

Many Pop and Rock musicans smash their instruments at the end of a performance.  This seems the right thing to do and could only be bettered by smashing them before a performance.
Having no wish to accord such a fate to mine, I choose not to play Pop or Rock tunes.

I played my piano accordion at a nursing home over the weekend. I accompanyed two singers that I call the "Bavarian Beauties". I did a lot of fill-in instrumental music. I played music by Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. The folks at the nursing home were familiar with both recording artists. They were a great audience. There was a fellow in the front row who sang beautiful harmony with everything we played or sang.

Does anyone remember Albert Hammond's "Free Electric Band" (1973)?

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvKlUfVb90Y

This tune falls very neatly beneath the fingers on Melodeon.

That's amazing! I know the names but I don't know any of their songs and I don't think I could recognize either of them in a lineup.

I know that one. But I gave it up for music, and the Free Electric Band.

You could not miss Lady Gaga in a lineup. Just look for the most outrageous costume. As Weird Al Yankovic's parody says...  (she) may be wearing Swiss cheese or covered with bees. (She's not crazy, she just performs this way.)

It's fascinating that a great part of the 60's and early 70's british pop music can be played on a Club accordion (from where I translate some on to a two-row box).

Telstar is good on the box as well.  :|glug
Having done this for the current Theme of the Month, I would like to hear it played from others as well. But I didn't find other renditions of Melodeon-Telstar on YT. :-[
